THREE MONTHS

– things i want to remember, always –

today was our first day and night completely by ourselves. your daddy left to Italy to spend time with your big brother, and we will see them both in one week in Barcelona. but for the next 7 days we are on our own.

the day went by leisurely despite some work i needed to do in the morning. i was procrastinating, feeling in sync with you, sleeping when you sleep, snacking every other hour, not feeling like making any effort. the night before I went to bed at 10pm (right after you) and we woke up at our usual 6:30am. but I needed to finish work, and was hoping for your 4 hour sleep stretch from 8am but seems like today you decided to stay awake to play instead. as always, I simply talked to you like with a grown-up, explaining about necessity of work and that I needed these 3-4 hours to finish everything. i told you that if you let me concentrate on it while you sleep, i promise to finish everything by the time you wake up and spend the rest of the day with you, doing whatever you feel like. as always, you listened, and fell asleep peacefully, on your own. in 3 hours when I was finalizing the last images, i noticed that you were wide awake but quiet and self-sufficient, pensively looking around you with your serious deep blue eyes.

today marks 3 months since you were born, and i want to thank you for being an incredible baby – for all your sweet smiles from early morning till dawn, for sleeping through the night without any sleep training needed, for being such a pro in breastfeeding since the very first day. during the 3rd month you grew 4cm taller (which makes you handsome 64cm long!); you expanded your cooing vocabulary and now we are engaged in long “conversations” several times a day; you also started enjoying tummy tub where you bounce happily all by yourself, and even try to stand up once in a while; our fussy times gets shorter (we learnt that going for a walk and having bath helps to get you back in a happy mood) and night sleeps are longer (8pm-6am is our everyday standard); we are watching Baby Einstein classic music cartoons and learning to grab the toys on the activity gym. i am watching you grow, and learning with fascination that there is no limit to the love i feel for you.
