SUMMER GETAWAYS

Summer is officially over in NY but unofficially it still goes even if it is just for a very short time. Plus traveling to warmer places where summer is all year around is always on my mind. It made me make a list of my favorite summer baby-items I found very helpful. Here we go:

  • Water baby sling: Made with mesh stretchy fabric, it’s breathable and looks cool (and feels so too!). past summer in NY, I didn’t risk going into the still chilly Atlantic ocean waters with 3mo Leo, but I used it a lot for strolling with him along the beach and were getting a lot of compliments from fellow mamas. Light, comfortable, airy, and stylish. Something I am looking forward to use to the fullest of its capacity on our next trip to a warm place somewhere in the world (secret for now, but i got an idea) where I can dip into the ocean with Leo safely tugged in. The water sling I used is made by Comfy Joey

  • Sun canopy for car seat. Unless you want to cover your baby with a muslin blanket like many moms do. I find muslin blankets not particularly suitable for that – they prevent me from seeing the baby, as well as no matter how thin they are, it’s still pretty hot under. Needless to say that they also fly away with the wind or just from a bumpy road swirls. The collapsible Brica sun canopy we got fits any car seat like a glove, doesn’t slide off, and let your baby breathe. Plus it just looks cool, converting your average car seat into a mini spaceship of some sort. Here is the link to Brica car seat canopy

  • Something as simple as a sun hat w/ visor is a must-have companion for any baby carrier in summer. You need to protect that tender little scalp with fluffy birth hair from harsh sun rays! plus your baby will look so cute on all the photos. For Leo I bought white i.play hat

  • Beach tent. Might be unnecessary if you have a travel bed but then you need to figure out umbrella/shade situation. I did couple beach trips with Leo this summer, and I always wished I had something that incorporates it all in one and letting me enjoy the sun and the sand while keeping both of it away from my baby. I found a solution in a shape and form of Kilofly. very well-done baby tent that creates perfect sun and sand protection, looks cool (as you probably noticed, it’s one important point on my list for all the items!) and collapses into a small circle of turquoise. Here is the link to the beach tent we loved.

this is just my two cents of advice *) what is your favorite summer getaway baby item?
